Meditation For Beginners: 9 Reasons Why You Should Start Meditating Today

Meditation for beginners

One of the most common habit that almost all happy and successful people recommend is meditation. And they have some good reasons to recommend so.

You might agree with them about meditation, but you think it’s just not for you.

Simply put, meditation requires you to sit still, and that is something you cannot do. Not even for 5 minutes. Besides, you are a businessperson, or a farmer, or whoever, you don’t need inner-peace.

But here are some benefits of meditation that can make you change your mind.

Ready?

Let’s start.

1. Enhance your ability to focus

Meditation requires you to focus. You have to focus to be aware if you are focusing on yourself, on your breath or your mind is wandering around.

You have around 60,000 thoughts crossing your minds every day. That’s a lot. And you might not realize it, but most of the times, you can think about many things at the same time.

But meditation directs you to go back to your base, and the more often you do it, you create a habit to go back to your present.

With a gentle approach to create the self-awareness to your thoughts, meditation is the best method that helps to enhance your ability to focus.

2. Reduce stress and anxiety

Life is hard sometimes. You think you will not be stressful if you reach a certain level of wealth and success.

But indeed, the higher you climb on your career ladder, the more work you have to do, the higher pressure and competition you need to overcome, and the more stressful you are.

Imagine your stress as a big wave. If you don’t do anything, it will overflow you and get the best of you. Meditation helps you eliminate those waves, makes them stable and gentle again.

3. Increase creativity

Many studies have proved that your creativity depends on the grey matters in your brain. You might think of some stimulation techniques to stimulate it and expand this area.

But meditation is a wonderful way to gently boost your brain, detox it from the negativity and give it a room to bloom.

4. Better acknowledge and control your emotions

Do you want to control your emotions? I bet you do.

Because everything is fine when you are happy. You want to spread it all over to people around you, to make them see and realize how happy you are. But it doesn’t seem to do any good when you are upset.

You feel low, unmotivated and lose your energy. What do you do to deal with it?

You don’t. You normally just suck it and wait until it’s over.

But when you meditate, you are learning to build a habit to control your emotions, and instead of letting it explode, you have the choice to control it.

5. Help you to stay in the present

Life is not a sprint. It’s more like a slow walk, where you get to walk and to look around you, enjoy the weather, the air and the sun in your path.

Do not rush to live your life and regret not enjoying every single moment.

Slow down, connect with yourself, plug with your inner peace and find your own path to the life you really want.

6. Better connect with your inner self

Here’s the irony of life that sooner or later you will realize.

“When you are young, you seek for things from the outside. But when you get older, you know the best places to seek for everything you need is from the inside.”

And it’s true.

Your inner-self, once you are connected to it, you will realize that it has all the answer to every question you’ve ever asked.

You might not realize it, but you might be killing yourself with a dead-end job that you hate. But you are so scared and afraid to risk what you have right now to give it a try.

Meditation can help you to realize that deep down, you don’t want and you don’t need that job. And that job may be the reason that you are unhappy and stressful. Maybe you will decide to give yourself a chance to pursue your dream, who knows.

7. Gain inner peace

You have to deal with a lot of things in your life. It is a magic that you don’t let your thoughts overwhelm you and drive you insane (yet).

With so many pressures, troubles and tough times in your life, your thought can easily be affected. It can become negative, aggressive or even resentful.

This is when meditation comes to rescue.

Meditation helps you to pay more attention to your actions, your emotions, and your thoughts. When you are aware of your thoughts, you can consciously reduce negative thoughts and avoid bad feelings.

8. Make you happier

Meditation rewires your brains. It helps you to connect to everything in the world, to see better, to feel better and to appreciate life better.

When you meditate, you change your approach to your life to become nicer and kinder.

9. You don’t have to “waste” 30 minutes or one hour to meditate

I know what you are thinking. You already knew all the benefits that I just mentioned above.

But meditation is still not for you. Because you don’t have the time for it.

You have tons of work to do every day, how can you afford to waste 30 minutes to an hour to just sit there and do nothing?

Well, here’s the good news.

You don’t need that much time. What do you think if you can enjoy the benefit with just 5 minutes of meditation a day?

Yes, it still works, it still gives you a lot of benefits, to your mind and your health. And it’s too short for any of your excuses now.

You will not recognize yourself after one year of meditation practice

Meditation can help you to transform your life for the better. Imagine seeing yourself one year from today, feeling calm, relaxed, balanced and happy.

You think it’s impossible? You think it’s a magic?

It’s not.

It’s just some positive effects of a frequent meditation. And you can reap the benefits just after couple days.

So take a comfortable seat. Close your eyes, and start counting.
